Crochet Pencil Bookmark

Welcome to the February Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop, hosted by My Pinterventures. The purpose of this Pinterest Challenge is to motivate all the participants of this hop (and you too) to not just pin, but to make it happen! This month, I chose to create a Crochet Pencil Bookmark. My daughter loves reading, and she had been using a folded piece of paper as a bookmark, so I asked her if she's like me to crochet a bookmark for her. She said yes!. The I asked what color she wanted her bookmark to be, and she requested purple. So I browsed Pinterest for inspiration and found some colorful colored pencil bookmarks...

The yarns I used are Caron Simply Soft Charcoal Heather, Caron Simply Soft Off White, Caron Simply Soft Orchid, Caron Simply Soft Purple, Caron Simply Soft Soft Pink, and Caron Simply Soft Party Silver.

With Caron Simply Soft Orchid, Ch 31. 

row 1: sc in 2nd ch from the hook  and sc across (30 sts).

rows 2-8: sc across. Fasten off.

Join Caron Simply Soft Off White

row 1: sc across (9 sts)
row 2: scdec, 7 sc
row 3: scdec, 6 sc
row 4: scdec, 5 sc
row 5: scdec, 4 sc
row 6: scdec, 3 sc. Fasten off.

Join Caron Simply Soft Charcoal Heather

row 7: 4 sc

row 8: scdec, 2 sc

row 9: scdec, 1 sc

row 10: scdec. Fasten off.

Join Caron Simply Soft Party Silver (other end)

row 1: 9 sc across

rows 2-6: 9 sc across. Fasten off.

Join Caron Simply Soft Soft Pink

row 10 - 11: 9 sc across

row 12: scdec, 5 sc, scdec

row 13: scdec, 3 sc, scdec

row 14: scdec, 1 sc, scdec

Single crochet border around the pencil making necessary color changes.

Pencil bookmark is ready for a book!

My daughter really loves the Dog Man books. 

The eraser and point of the pencil stick out the book a little.
