Fishy Crochet Baby Blanket

When I learned that I was pregnant with a baby boy, I was so excited to get started on his nautical themed nursery. I had stumbled upon some nautical fabric that I fell in love with an new that I wanted to use it to make things for my son's nursery. And since I crochet, I also wanted to crochet him a nautical themed blanket.

I remembered that I had this book (A Year of Baby Afghans Book 5in my crochet book stash. I know I am not the only crocheter with a crochet book stash of books that you buy and you have them for years before you actually make anything from the patterns in the books. Well, I loved the fish blanket in this book. I decided to make it red (Caron Simply Soft Harvest Red), white (Caron Simply Soft White), and blue (Caron Simply Soft Country Blue) since the fabric that I'm using for his nursery curtains, diaper stacker, crib skirt, and quilt is red, white, blue, and teal.

While crocheting this blanket, I made a blooper with one of the rows of fish. One fish is headed in the wrong direction, but I decided he was fun, so I kept that row. That little fishy is not a follower! He is a leader!

I love this red and white boarder.  The blanket is now in my son's nautical nursery. My daughter keeps telling me that she wants a fishy blanket, too. It's such a fun pattern to crochet. I could make her one with pink, purple, and blue yarn...

    1. The pattern is in the book A Year of Baby Afghans Book 5 (Leisure Arts #5260). I've had the book for a few years, so I'm not sure where I bought, but it's on Amazon. :-)
