I thought this was such an awesome decor idea, so I made my own version. I believe the ones on the show were created using old window panes. I don't have any of those, so I used old canvas frames that I didn't want anymore.
Sometimes I try to paint. I'm not an artist, but darn it, I try! So these painted canvases were in our old bedroom and matched our bedroom's old color scheme of red, black, white, and gray. I spelled out the word LOVE. I didn't take a picture of the V and E.
I removed the canvases from the wooden frames.
I painted the frames using colors from my new shower curtain. And I gathered a bunch of ribbon.
These ribbons are my faves! They give me a bohemian vibe.
So I used my glue gun to attach the ribbon to the wooden frames.
I like the different textures of the ribbons. Some are lacy. Some are leathery, and some are glittery!
After attaching the ribbons, I decided to add decorative nails using my new tiny hammer. Isn't it cute?! Since the frames are upcycled, they are not perfect, and I even cracked one while using my tiny hammer. But that's okay. I feel it gives them a little bit of a chic shabbiness...
And here are the results:

Here's my colorful bathroom! I even added color to this driftwood wall art I found at TJ Maxx!
so fun, love the aqua one! thanks so much for sharing on craft schooling Sunday!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love aqua, too!
DeleteMonroe, I reallly like this idea. It is so fun and colorful. Just perfect for the bathroom and it matches the whole fun vibe. I tried to do this once using a giant pizza box. lol. I had covered it in fabric and then passed the ribbons around it. Your idea is much nicer.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary! I may do this again. I have more canvases. This was such a fun project.
