TMNT Inspired Granny Square Blanket

Welcome to the June Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop! The purpose of this Pinterest Challenge is to motivate all the participants of this hop (and you too) to not just pin, but to make it happen! So this month, I'm sharing a TMNT Inspired Granny Square Blanket.

I'm always searching Pinterest for ideas for crochet creations, and one day I found a super cute TMNT themed granny square blanket that featured the turtle eyes and masks. I thought it was cool how the crocheter added the ties for the masks to the blanket.

SUPPLIES:
Big Twist Emerald
Big Twist Pumpkin
Big Twist Lilac
Big Twist Royal Blue
Red Heart Cherry Red
H/5mm crochet hook

For this granny square blanket, I started with 5 rounds of green. I separated the green from the colors with a round of black (block stitch).  So I crocheted with the following color pattern:
  • 5 rounds of green
  • 1 round of black (block stitch)
  • 3 rounds of orange
  • 1 round of black (block stitch)
  • 5 rounds of green
  • 1 round of black (block stitch)
  • 3 rounds of purple
  • 1 round of black (block stitch)
  • 5 rounds of green
  • 1 round of black (block stitch)
  • 3 rounds of red
  • 1 round of black (block stitch)
  • 5 rounds of green
  • 1 round of black (block stitch)
  • 3 rounds of blue
  • 1 round of black (block stitch)
  • 5 rounds of green
  • black border
For this blanket I used Big Twist yarns in Emerald, Lilac, Pumpkin, and Royal Blue. The red yarn is Red Heart Super Saver Cherry Red.

To keep with the TMNT theme, I crocheted with my size H/5mm Pepperoni Pizza Crochet Hook.

At first, I used Big Twist Scarlet for the red, but it wasn't red enough, so I frogged it and switched to the Cherry Red.

This Royal Blue is so pretty!

After all the rows and border were done, I added the eyes and the ties for the eye masks.

Now the blanket is all done, and it's listed in my Etsy shop.

    1. Thanks, Gail! He was. If it doesn't sale on Etsy, I'll give it to him even though he already has several blankets from Mommy. 😂🤣

  14. Entirely too cute for a little TMNT fan! Love the tails for the masks and those eyes! I like the alignment of the masks/eyes on yours better than the inspiration piece. What a nice gift.

    1. Thanks so much! I had a hard time figuring out where to put the eye masks. I originally had them arranged a different way, but I changed them to where they are now.
