Seahawks Themed Porch Sign

Welcome to The Outdoor Decor & Entertaining Ideas Blog Hop! This month my blog friends and I are sharing outdoor decor or entertaining ideas such as lawn or deck decor, DIY projects for outdoors, gardening projects, wreaths, or outdoor party decor. So I decided to finally decorate an old door I bought at a local antique store. I was looking for an old shutter to use to make a porch sign, but I found a whole door instead!

Back in October, I found a door at an antique store, and it needed a lot of work. I thought it would be a cool porch sign project. My husband was getting a bed liner put in his new truck, so we took it home in my SUV. 😆😁

This is the before pic. This door had a few layers of cracked up paint. I knew this was going to be interesting. I bought a sander and lots of sand paper.

Although I did a lot of sanding. I did not get all the  paint off. I eventually gave up, and just started painting!

I decided this porch sign would have a Seahawks theme, so I painted the door with dark blue Metallic Rust-oleum spray paint.

I bought large wooden letters to spell out Seahawks.

I painted the letters green with DecoArt AmericanaDecor Outdoor Living paint in Succulent.

I used a couple small nails and hot glue to attach the letters to the door.

While I waited for all the paint to dry, I crocheted some rosettes to decorate the door.

I added silver buttons and green bells to the centers of the rosettes. I painted some beads green and silver and added keys.

I found a birdhouse in my craft supplies stash, painted it green and silver, and added it to the door.

I hot glued the rosettes onto the door. Since I did not get all the paint of the door, it is very textured, and I love it!

I painted the door handle silver. I attached a door lock sticker above the handle. I draped the beads with the keys through the door handle.

Ta-Da! The door is complete.

Here's the door in front of my home. Now all my neighbors will know that I really really really love the Seahawks! 😄😁💙💚 We're scheduled to move back to Washington in a couple months, but I'm not sure if the move will happen as planned or be delayed because of the Corona situation. We'll see. Either way, I can show my love for the Seahawks wherever I am!

  1. The Seahawks sign looks great, T'onna. Leaving some of the paint on for a textured look worked out well for outdoor decor. I hope your move goes through without much delay. I think it's great that you display your love of the Seahawks wherever you are. I do that same for the Falcons even though I'm in SC.
