Recently while I was scrolling through Facebook, I saw a really cute gnome scarf. It was a post in the Snappy Tots crochet group I'm in, and as soon as I saw it, I knew it would be the perfect project for this month's Fall Crafts & Decor Blog Hop. So I purchased the Fall Gnome Scarf pattern by Heidi Yates/Snappy Tots, and I searched through my yarn stash for the perfect colors.
The yarns I used for this project are: Vanna's Choice Taupe, Vanna's Choice Beige, Vanna's Choice Terracotta, Big Twist Value Varsity Gold, Red Heart Super Saver Blue, Vanna's Choice Brick, Red Heart Soft White, Vanna's Choice Kelly Green, Caron Simply Soft Light Country Peach, and Vanna's Choice Black.
To created this fun scarf, I followed the Fall Gnome Scarf pattern, and I started by crocheting the body of the scarf with Vanna's Choice Terracotta yarn and a 5.5 crochet hook.
The first half of the scarf is crocheted in a solid color (Vanna's Choice Terracotta). The next half is crocheted with two colors, and I used Vanna's Choice Taupe and Vanna's Choice Beige. I wanted my scarf to be about 60 inches long, so I crocheted with Vanna's Choice Terracotta for about 30 inches, and then with the Vanna's Choice Taupe and Vanna's Choice Beige for another 30 inches.
After the body of the scarf was finished, I crocheted the embellishments. I crocheted the noses with Caron Simply Soft Light Peach. For the blue patch, I used Red Heart Super Saver Blue. The heart was crocheted with Vanna's Choice Brick. I made the hat brims with Vanna's Choice Kelly Green and Vanna's Choice Taupe. The sunflowers were fun to make, and I crocheted them with Vanna's Choice Kelly Green and Big Twist Value Varsity Gold. I found some buttons in my button stash to add to the scarf and some twine.
Next, I stitched on the noses...
Then I added the hat brims...
Then I added the beard and braids...
Then I added the blue patch, sunflower, and buttons...
And finally, I added the heart, sunflower, and buttons to this bearded gnome.
