I enjoying making crochet Christmas gifts, so I was excited when my son asked for a crochet kitty for Christmas. I asked him to help me pick a yarn for it, and he chose Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick Toasted Almond. So once I had the yarn, I had to find a pattern. I chose the Mini Charli Cat pattern by Mama Made Designs. The pattern worked up pretty fast!
I started by crocheting the head with a 7mm crochet hook (Furls Odyssey Hooks). I used one of my favorite Christmas stitch markers during this project, which is crocheted in the round.
I added green safety eyes and stuffed the head with Poly-Fil.
Next, I crocheted the body and the legs.
I crocheted the ears, arms, and tail. Then I sewed the onto the body of the kitty with a yarn needle.
After I attached the ears, arms, and tail, I knotted the legs close to the feet. Next, I will create toe beans (kitty toes) using chunky pink yarn.
My son kept coming into my craft room while I was working on the feet of the kitty, so I hid it in a project bag while I worked on it. 😁 I didn't want him to see it until Christmas morning.
Both feet now have their toe beans. 😸
I used the pink yarn to create a nose and added some to the ears.
Here's the back of the kitty with his little tail.
Now, this little kitty is ready to play!
Like most cats, he really enjoys playing with balls of yarn. 🧶
I was so glad that my son likes his new kitty friend. Yay! 😸
