As a crafter, I like to add handmade ornaments to my Christmas tree, and for several years now, I've had a Seahawks themed Christmas tree. Each year I buy and make a few new Seahawks themed ornaments to add to our tree. So I decided to make a snowman ornament with a green scarf and blue earmuffs, so he's wear Seahawks colors! 💙💚
SUPPLIES:
Poly-Fil (or yarn scraps as stuffing)
After finding the pattern for the Crochet Ragdoll Snowman (by Loops and Love Crochet), I gathered the supplies needed to create this adorable snowman ornament. I always have small balls of yarn leftover after creating a project, so I found balls in my stash in the colors I needed for this project. I started out with the 3.25 hook, but I switched to the 3.5 because the 3.25 was not crocheting smoothly with the white yarn. The safety eyes are used for the snowman's eyes and buttons. I used the blue yarn for the earmuffs and the green for the scarf. A tiny bit of black yarn is used to create the snowman's smile. And of course, the orange yarn is for the snowman's carrot nose. And you'll need a cute stitch marker. I've been using my Christmas sweater stitch markers for all my Christmasy projects.
I followed the pattern and created the front and back panels of the snowman with the white yarn.
I picked one panel to be the front of the snowman, and I added the safety eyes for the eyes and the buttons. I crocheted his carrot nose and smile.
I crocheted the front and back panels together, and I have my jar full of yarn scraps ready for stuffing.
I stuffed the snowman with yarn scraps.
After the snowman was stuffed and stitched closed, I added the earmuffs and scarf. Then finally, I added a loop for hanging the ornament on the Christmas tree.
The snowman is ready to join the other ornaments on the Christmas tree. ⛄🎄
I added the snowman to our Seahawks themed tree, and he fits right in. 😁💙💚
Thanks so much for stopping by to check out my Crochet Snowman Ornament, which I'm sharing for the December Sustainable Craft Challenge Blog Hop! The purpose of the Sustainable Craft Challenge Blog Hop (hosted by Julie @ Sum of Their Stories) is to create a sustainable/eco-friendly craft project. This month's theme is Winter, so I crocheted a snowman ornament using yarn already in my stash, and I filled it with yarn scraps, so that no yarn is wasted! Anyhoo, I hope you'll visit the other participants' crafty, eco-friendly Winter creations below! ↓
