School is out for summer, but during Teacher Appreciation Week, I made this orca as a teacher appreciation gift for my son's teacher. I noticed during parent-teacher conferences that she had a crochet crayon pillow and a pencil pillow in her classroom, so I decided to make her an Orca pillow since the kids had recently learned about Orcas, and the teacher really likes them.
SUPPLIES:
I followed the Orca Kawaii Cuddler Pattern by 3am Grace Designs to crochet the first side of the orca's body and tail with I Love This Yarn Black.
Next, I crocheted the fins.
Then, I crocheted the other side of the body, fins, tail, and the white spots.
I added a 18mm Kawaii Safety Eye to one side of the orca and used a yarn needle to stitch the white spots onto the orca.
Then finally, I crocheted the two sided together. I used one of my favorite Furls crochet hooks. 😊 I stuffed the orca with Poly-fil Stuffing before stitching it closed.
Ta-Da! During Teacher Appreciation Week, I gifted this orca to my son's teacher along with a black & white notebook and pen set and a gift card. She wrote a really nice thank you note, and I've seen the orca appear in pictures showing classroom activities. Yay!
Your crochet orca is adorable, what a lovely gift
