Welcome to the December Sustainable Craft Challenge Blog Hop. This month's theme is Last Minute Gifts, and I like making handmade crochet accessories for friends and family instead of buying fast fashion pieces. I hope they love and enjoy the handmade gifts and keep them for a looooooooong time. I like to make items that are so unique, so they'll never go out of style. 😁 I knew the perfect pattern to create a really quick Christmas themed scarf. The Christmas Holly Leaf Scarf (pattern by Celtic Knot Crochet) was the first project that popped into my head, and I knew it would also be a great project to use up some of the green yarn in my stash.

So, I have a few of the Caron Cakes Pistachio in my stash, and I usually cut out the different shades of green for my projects. This was my stash of pistachio yarn last year....
I've gotten it down to just a few small balls. I used about 3 balls of the light green yarn for this project.
Anyhoo... 😁I grabbed one of the light green balls of yarn, and I used a 5mm (Furls) crochet hook to crochet the starting chain. The project gives instructions for creating the scarf with different lengths.
After crocheting the chain, I followed the pattern's instructions and crocheted down one side of the chair...
Then I crocheted down the other side of the chain.
I made two strips of holly leaves. One is about 62 inches long and the other is about 48½ inches long.
Next, it was time to add the red berries, so I found a ball of I Love This Yarn Fire Red yarn in my stash, and I used it to crochet the berries.
I really enjoyed crocheting the berries, and the pattern worked up really quick and easy. After I added the berries to both strips of holly leaves, I blocked the strips to minimize the curling. And while the two strips were being blocked, I read through the instructions to see if the strips were to be joined... No? Okay. So then, I visited the designer's blog to find her post about this scarf, and she had a picture of the scarf with three strips of holly. So then I decided to crochet another strip of holly leaves, which didn't take long.
My supervisor (Miso) was making sure I was being productive while watching TV... 🙄🤣
Now, I've completed 3 strips of holly and berries.
The stripes measure 62, 52, and 48½ inches, so when worn together, they create a cute layered look.
Ta-Da!
This scarf is so quick to make that it's perfect as a last minute Christmas gift.
